Memoirs of a Runner
Today proved to be my most exciting day of work so far. I had the opportunity to be a “Runner” for a band. Runners basically do everything they can to meet a band’s needs on the night of a performance, anything from buying their groceries to setting up the dressing room. Although I didn’t get a chance to meet the band, their tour manager turned out to be a great, gracious dude. I was so nervous before I went in today, fearing I was in over my head. Turns out, the job is doable after all. The day didn’t go quite as seamlessly as I hoped, but for a first day, I’d like to think I did pretty well. Both the tour manager and a veteran runner were content with the job I did, I may even venture to say they were pleased. One can only hope.
I can say, with complete certainty might I add, that I love this place. Somewhere out there, the universe is really pulling for me. It’s gonna be a good summer.
